Head of Diversity and Inclusion
Global Media and Entertainment
Serena Lloyd-Smith is the Head of Diversity and Inclusion for Global, where she is responsible for driving the D&I strategy, interventions and initiatives, and oversees Global’s staff networks. A key part of her role is influencing the approach to D&I as well as working with senior stakeholders by using data to capture key insights to drive real measurable progress.
Prior to her joining, Serena was a Diversity and Inclusion Specialist at the BBC where she managed and developed seven staff networks; supported the delivery of the BBC’s three-year D&I plan; and co-facilitated training and initiatives across the organisation. During her time here, her work saw an industry first, with the launch of the inaugural socio-economic diversity network – RAISED (Real Action in Socio-Economic Diversity), and the staff networks remain an integral part of their 2021-23 D&I strategy.
Serena has a long-standing career in broadcasting and media, having held a number of roles at the BBC and BBC Studios, including managing the coordination for the E20 project to rebuild the EastEnders set, resourcing and contracting talent in Factual Production, and working across Comedy and Entertainment commissioning and production. Previously, Serena held roles at Channel 4, Scripps Networks and ITV, working across commissioning, production, operations and multiplatform/online.
She is also part of the WFTV 2020 cohort of women leaders in the industry and was nominated for the TV Collective Breakthrough Leader 2021 programme.
