We are looking for a self-motivated, passionate and strategic lead for our growing Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) service. Our EDI Service Manager will be responsible for the leadership, direction and delivery of the EDI priorities in our People Promise, embedding our culture of inclusion plan, the NHS Workforce Race and Disability Equality Standards (WRES and WDES), and the Equality Delivery System (EDS). In particular, be responsible for the strategic direction of the EDI Service that sits within the broader Inclusion and Culture Development Team, ensuring that the Trust meets all the legal and reporting obligations in relation to staff and patients.
Main duties of the job
Our EDI Service Manager will:
- define the priorities for future phases of the embedding a culture of inclusion plan. They will work closely with the Health and Wellbeing and Staff Experience Service Manager, ensuring their agendas and priorities are aligned, delivering and improving a culture of inclusion within the Trust for all
- be responsible for developing strategic plans, provide senior expertise, leadership and influence for EDI matters across the organisation, supporting the clinical and corporate services to ensure EDI considerations are integral to the delivery of the Trust’s People Promise and future plans
- build collaborative relationships with other NHS Trusts EDI teams within the Devon System, developing and sharing to deliver a future consistent and aligned EDI agenda and EDI resources
- Working with key stakeholders, develop plans to ensure that EDI objectives are embedded and delivered across the organisation, including the overall Trust strategy. This will include the development of a range of information metrics and a cultural dashboard which will help shape and drive the change required.

The Inclusion and Culture Development team are forward thinking and proactive, delivering the people strategy for the employees in Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust (TDSFT) to create a work culture where people feel safe, healthy and supported. They do this through developing a stronger presence of an inclusive culture via proactive EDI, health and wellbeing, and mediation interventions, and through working closely with the Patient Safety team and the Employee Relations team to embed a Just and Learning Culture. Within the People Directorate they also are key to ensure that the People Directorate is a positive, collaborative and enjoyable place to work.
The postholder will provide compassionate and inclusive leadership to support the development of this team and wider People Directorate.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Educated to a Masters level or equivalent experience
- Extensive knowledge of specialist area acquired through education, research or formal development
- Evidence of continuous professional development
- Developed expertise in Diversity and Inclusion through a proven track record of culture change in large scale complex organisation
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of further relevant study in health inequalities
Knowledge and experience
Essential criteria
- Evidence of managing change/transformation initiatives to conclusion
- Demonstrable experience of providing specialist advice, support and guidance on a range of highly complex and sensitive issues to key decision makers in the organisation
- Detailed specialist knowledge of equality and diversity legislation, policy and best practice
- Significant experience of managing, leading and delivering projects
- Knowledge of performance management and monitoring of services within a large organisation
- Experience of conducting equalities impact assessments advising others on best practice
Desirable criteria
- Experience of designing and delivering training
