Website TheFCA Financial Conduct Authority

We are recruiting for an enthusiastic Associate to join the Diversity and Inclusion team within Corporate Responsibility, which is expanding in recognition of the importance of this work.

The Corporate Responsibility (CR) team sits within the Human Resources department of our Operations division and is responsible for the strategic management and delivery of the FCA’s aspirations in Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) and Community Engagement. The team collaborates closely with a wide range of FCA stakeholders, both internal and external, to influence the organisation’s corporate responsibility culture and strategy.

Our mission sets our goal to serve the UK public interest through better regulation. As the regulator of the financial services industry, the decisions we make directly impact the lives of millions of people who use those services every day. Diversity of thought enables us to be more innovative in our thinking. We will perform better when we employ the very best diverse talent and expertise and develop an inclusive culture in which the range of voices and views can be heard.

Under the Equality Act 2010, the FCA is also subject to the public-sector equality duty (PSED), which means we must look for ways to eliminate discrimination, to promote equality of opportunity and foster good relations between groups that share protected characteristics, and those that do not. We apply these considerations both as an employer and in our regulatory approach.

What does the role involve? What are the key responsibilities?

We are looking for a confident, proactive individual who has an understanding of D&I and why it is important to the FCA. They should have a proven ability to learn quickly in role, especially with competing demands as the team embeds and the D&I strategy review develops.

  • Manage relationships with our staff Network groups, providing advice and guidance, leading on any actions, and escalating issues as required

  • Work closely with the project team leading on our internal D&I strategy, in relation to embedding the new approach through our activities

  • Work with the D&I specialist to develop a learning and development strategy/framework that supports delivery of the D&I strategy

  • Project manage output for key benchmarking submissions, including our Women in Finance Charter submission, Stonewall and the Social Mobility Employer’s Index

  • Engage with our divisional D&I Working Groups, aligning to the model of engagement that will be agreed through the internal D&I strategy review

  • Lead on assessment and relationship management of our external memberships, considering value add, purpose, and coverage across different diversity characteristics (e.g. BDF, Inclusive Employers, Gender networks, Carers Connect)

  • Support with the project management, delivery and evaluation of key centrally driven D&I projects/interventions that form part of our strategy

  • Keep abreast of research and thought leadership in the D&I field and attend related events and seminars where possible

  • Contribute to ad hoc projects to support delivery of the FCA’s D&I strategy

  • Support the delivery of the FCA CR and Diversity and Inclusion objectives through working with internal and external stakeholders

Working in the Corporate Responsibility Team, you will benefit from the opportunity to:

  • Work on a high-profile priority for the FCA; internally and externally as we seek to lead by example as an employer, and a regulator

  • Take ownership of key areas of D&I related work, developing your knowledge and experience within Corporate Responsibility, and D&I in particular
