Minimum qualifications:

  • Experience in leadership, operations, and execution within Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI).
  • Experience in creating and delivering strategy based on system-level thinking and data-driven conclusions.
  • Experience with leading teams through the influence of internal and external stakeholders.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience influencing cross-functional teams to structure/execute programs and build operational capabilities at scale and with demonstrable results.
  • Ability to collaborate and be comfortable with solving ambiguous problems.
  • Ability to lead with a sense of urgency and a passion for diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
  • Excellent business acumen, problem framing, problem solving, project management, and analytical skills.

About the job

As the Lead Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion you will provide visionary and strategic leadership to internal and external efforts within Google and across the communities we serve. In this leadership role, you will serve as the lead executive responsible for developing and promoting a strategic plan for Google’s diversity, equity and inclusion efforts ensuring alignment with the Global plan and People priorities. You will act as a trusted advisor and thought partner to the diversity business partners supporting Google Leads and lead a team to influence and advance thinking and results.

  • Serve as a key strategic/business partner to executive leaders regarding diversity and inclusion-related issues, topics, programs, and trends.
  • Lead a team to ensure the implementation of impactful initiatives across Google, align with global People priorities, collaborate with the company’s compliance/reporting programs, and monitor progress toward goals.
  • Provide advocacy, support, and governance for Employee Resource Groups.
  • Develop and maintain external strategic diversity partnerships to advance community engagement efforts.
  • Act as an effective steward and advocate of Google’s diversity and inclusion philosophy to external audiences, and effectively communicate/articulate current and ongoing efforts to external customers.
