Have you developed and delivered EDI projects which made an impact? Have you consulted and engaged different groups of people and communities on EDI projects? Have you built trusted relationships with diverse communities? Do you have a specialist interest in issues relating to disable people or racially minoritized people? If so, we have a role that may suit you.

As an EDI Officer each day is varied and challenging, ranging from:

group meetings with members of communities who share a protected characteristic to co-produce new EDI projects, to
one-to-one meetings with council managers to help them reflect on and improve the inclusiveness of the their services to
briefing councillors on key equality issues.
You will be the lead for a specific protected characteristic; either race or disability equality as we already have a lead officer on LGBTQ+ in the team.

You will provide a high quality, reliable EDI business partnering service to all council services to ensure the council meets the Public Sector Equality Duty. Acting as a critical friend you will scrutinise and review council services’ policies, processes, procedures and practices and support them to find solutions.

You will deliver development work with diverse communities, taking into account intersectionality, to enable them to inform and influence the council.
